Stackpole International is pleased to announce its proud sponsorship of the FIRST Robotics Team at Craig Kielburger Secondary School located in Milton, Ontario. 2014 is the first year for the school and its Team to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) finishing with an impressive Silver Metal at the FIRST regional competition held on March 20-22, 2014 at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario.
Organized by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), the competition is an international high school robotics competition in which high-school students team up with the world’s best technology companies to build 5 foot tall, 120 pound robots using common parts and software. Governed by strict rules, limited resources, and constructed in only 6 weeks, teams are tasked with building a competitive robot that can operate autonomously, as well as be guided by wireless controls, to accomplish various tasks against a field of competitors.
With an emphasis on teamwork, participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition gives team members extensive interaction with adult mentors as well as:
- Learn from professional engineers
- Build and compete with a robot of their own design
- Learn and use sophisticated software and hardware
- Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
- Earn a place in the World Championship
- Qualify for over $12 million in college scholarships
Stackpole congratulates the team on a very successful season.
