Job Description:

The Operations Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating activities concerned with the production of company products.


  • Responsible for continuous improvement activities within plant.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Responsible for continuing GPS activities on plant floor.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Meets with Human Resources Manager regularly to review / discuss performance, health & safety issues, and general concerns of employees.
  • Attends Leadership and Management meetings.
  • Manages by walk-about with Supervisors
  • Must work in a safe and efficient manner and comply with Stackpole International’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures and Quality Systems, Procedures and Policies.
  • Must become familiar and work with SPS, 5S and CI activities.
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Minimum 5 years of operation management experience is preferred
  • College or higher education (engineering preferable) is an asset
  • Automotive environment manufacturing experience is desired
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Good safety performance record
  • Ability to analyze risks and apply corrective actions
  • Ability to plan manpower needs
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Familiar with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 systems is an asset
  • Good organizational skills, be a self-starter, be able to work both independently and on a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate effectively will all levels of the organization
