Manufacturing Technician – Finishing – Canada (PMDM)

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Technician – Finishing is responsible for working as part of the Operations Team to safely produce quality parts at a low cost and on time to the customer. This role is accountable for core responsibilities as a technical team member.


  • Working from blueprints responsible for all new setups of new and existing CNC equipment from tear down of old job to first off of new job.
  • Responsible for set-up, maintenance and troubleshooting all existing automation and robotics.
  • Responsible for programming, adjustments and reporting of the same.
  • Provide positive feedback and input with an aim to continuous improvement through the elimination of defective parts and avoidance of potential problems.
  • Assist Engineering where feasible to develop new jobs or make modifications to existing ones.
  • Interact in a positive manner with maintenance and engineering to help solve any machine related problems, and with tool room and stockroom to help eliminate tooling problems.
  • Responsible for training operators on new and existing jobs, and working with suppliers on cost reduction programs.
  • A good working knowledge of all job related safety, quality control, equipment and methods to ensure product quality
  • Participating in Operations team meetings;
  • Assist in the training and development of new members of the Operations;
  • Participate in 5 “S” activities.
  • Work in compliance with Stackpole PMDM Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Successful completion of a Mechanical Engineering Technician program from a recognized technical training institute and experience as a CNC set-up operator/programmer is preferred.
  • Machining knowledge for fixture and tools modification is preferred.
  • CNC programming experience and thorough knowledge of measuring techniques and the ability to read blue prints is an asset.
  • Must possess good communication skills and a cooperative attitude as well as a demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Hands on experience with robotics, Motoman, ABB, Fanuc, etc. and able to set-up, teach, program, troubleshoot
  • Full ownership and responsibility for automation lines, set up, maintaining and troubleshooting
  • High level of mechanical and numerical aptitude.
