Industrial Electrician Apprentice – Canada (PMDM)

What is an Apprentice?

  • An apprentice is someone who learns a skilled trade on the job, under the direction of more experienced workers. Apprentices also complete classroom instruction as a part of their training.
  • Apprentices must be members of the Ontario College of Trades.
  • Apprentices become skilled workers once they have acquired the knowledge and skills in a trade or occupation and are certified by a provincial or territorial authority.

Initial and Future Responsibilities:

  • Participating in in-class course work and on the job training
  • Courses will cover a wide range of technical knowledge, including codes, legislation and regulations, blueprint drawings, electrical theory, wiring, installations, controls, transformers and generators, power distribution, fluid power, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, high voltage, etc.
  • Provide general assistance to the Electricians
  • Operational problem solving and seeking out continuous improvements to the process;
  • Duties encompass preventative maintenance, installations, troubleshooting, machine improvements and modifications.
  • Provide technical support to the Human Resources, Processes, Products and Equipment employed within the Division on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensuring that a smooth “hand-off” occurs with technical team members on other shifts within the department, so that the communication and transition between shifts is constantly occurring
  • Participating in team meetings to review and resolve quality, service, operations, facilities, human resources and health and safety issues, when required
  • Assist in the training and development of new members of operations;
  • Participate in 5 “S” activities.
  • Work in compliance with Stackpole PMDM Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
  • All other duties as assigned

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completion of high school or equivalent (GED)
  • Must be registered with the Ontario College of Trades
  • Team player with the ability to work with others in a team based environment
  • Must have at least three years relevant work experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Must be technically and mechanically inclined
  • Must be a reliable, mature individual with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
