Assistant General Manager – Canada (EPDM)

Job Description:

Through the effective management of Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Materials Control, Continuous Improvement and Operations Engineering resources, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for the overall development, growth, and success of business unit manufacturing activities as they relate to P&L activities, manufacturing efficiency, cost, safety, and government regulatory and legal compliance. This role includes significant responsibility for human resource planning, ongoing operational integrity of equipment and processes, continuous improvement activities for facilities, equipment and controls systems, integration of new production cells, and effective management systems.

  • Works with department managers to develop and implement business plans which ensure long term satisfaction of customers, employees and shareholders
  • Leads and coaches the department managers and other direct reports in order to accomplish the objectives of the business plan with respect to cost, quality, employee satisfaction and regulatory compliance
  • Leads and coaches the department managers and other direct reports to overcome operational problems encountered during the normal course of business.
  • Leads and coaches the department managers and other direct reports to ensure departmental compliance with Stackpole EP Quality and Environmental Systems
  • Works with HR Manager to ensure appropriate human resources are available and that employees are empowered and capably trained to complete their functions at a world-class level
  • Works with the General Manager to ensure equipment and process efficiencies are continuously improving.
  • Communicates with employees and other required parties to ensure facility success in meeting stated objectives
  • Leads and coaches the department managers and other direct reports in order to allow all departments to be compliant with Stackpole International Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production Systems
  • Acts as an Emergency Management Representative (EMR) as required
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Extensive experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing and plant operations with a minimum of 5 years management experience
  • An undergraduate degree in engineering is preferred
  • A graduate degree in finance or business management or appropriate work experience in lieu of a graduate degree is permissible
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict management and problem solving skills
  • Able to interact and lead effectively at all levels of the organization
